Abel Tesfaye who is better known to us as The Weeknd performed during the YouTube At Coppertank SXSW Showcase at The Belmont on March 19, 2015 in Austin, Texas. I have added three high quality photos (Credit: C Flanigan/WireImage) to the gallery.
The Weeknd is scheduled to hit the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night (March 19, 2015) on ABC TV Network at 11:35pm. With Bill Murray as special guest and the cast of ‘The Walking Dead.’ Make sure to check back here for later coverage of the Jimmy Kimmel appearance.

I have added high quality photos (Credit: Sonia Recchia / stringer) to our Gallery from this Sunday’s 2015 Juno Awards event. The Weeknd not only performed “Earned It” but also walked home with Juno’s “Artist Of The Year” Award. Check out our latest gallery additions by clicking the link below.
Broadcast live from FirstOntario Place arena in Hamilton, Ontario and attended by 11,700 people (it holds 12,000). With just six awards left to be distributed, plus Morissette’s induction, the night leaned heavily on performances, including The Weeknd, Deadmau5 with Colleen D’Agostino, The Arkells, Bobby Bazini, Shawn Mendes, Lights with Sam Roberts Band, and Morrissette.
The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) took Artist of the Year (he kept his thank-you short, and was brought into the press room by his label and management just to read a sentence-long statement to the Junos and fans for voting for him, though it is members of the music industry who vote on the awards). Oh, and to plug his new album “coming out real soon.”
Side Note: I’ll be adding High Quality photos as well as Screen Captures from the event shortly, keep your eyes peeled!
Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris and The Weekend are among the acts playing this year’s sixth annual Sweetlife Festival. The event, which was launched by East Coast organic food chain Sweetgreen, will take place on May 30 and 31 at Columbia, Md.’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. The YouTube Music Awards are making a return later this month, and they are coming back with a new format and some incredible exclusives.
This year, the company has announced the winners several weeks before the official date (March 23, 2015), rather than making people tune in to see who will go home with a trophy. Instead, YouTube is encouraging viewers to watch the award show’s page on that day to catch brand new exclusive videos from some of the honorees. Nine acts—Cahoots, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran, Martin Garrix, MAX, Migos, Megan Nicole, Nicky Jam, and Shamir—will all be releasing new clips simultaneously. Vice Media will be producing all nine videos, pairing the talented artists with some of the best directors working today.
Here is the full list of the 50 acts being honored by YouTube this year:
2NE1, Alt-J, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Big Bang, Big Sean, Brad Paisley, Charli XCX, Dej Loaf, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Ella Henderson, Fifth Harmony, FKA Twigs, Florida Georgia Line, George Ezra, Hoodie Allen, Hozier, Hunter Hayes, J. Cole, Jason Derulo, Katy Perry, Kendrick Lamar, Kiesza, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Lady Gaga, Lindsey Stirling, Martin Garrix, MAX, Megan Nicole, Meghan Trainor, Migos, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Nicky Jam, OK GO, One Direction, Pentatonix, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Sia, Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Tinashe, Tori Kelly, Tove Lo, Troye Sivan, and Tyler Ward.
Canadian R&B sensation The Weeknd has been added to the line up of next month’s Juno Awards, joining Alanis Morissette, the Arkells, Sam Roberts, Deadmau5, Kiesza, Shawn Mendes, Lights, Hedley and Magic!.
The Weeknd’s appearance on the March 15, 2015 Junos follows on the heels of his latest single, a sultry slow dancer called “Earned It,” which appears on the soundtrack of the hit movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
The Weeknd, nominated this year for artist of the year and best R&B/soul recording, is the stage name of Grammy-nominated Toronto singer-songwriter Abel Tesfaye. Tickets for the event are priced at $39 to $149 (plus service charges), available at the FirstOntario Centre Box Office, by phone at 1-855-872-5000, and online at Ticketmaster.ca.
